The inception of Banamid marked the founding of a research institute in the realm of architecture with a distinct mission to engage in activities both within the discipline of architecture and across disciplinary boundaries (cross disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary). Within Banamid, a deliberate focus was placed on developing connections and interactions, both between architecture and other fields and within the architectural domain itself (architecture-architecture).
In the research section, we conducted a project on the contemporary architecture of Iran with approximately seventy researchers, including Dr. Nadiyeh Imani and several university professors. This project comprised five main sections: architectural competitions in Iran, professional associations and architectural institutions in Iran, architectural education in Iran, construction and execution in Iranian architecture, and finally, people and architecture in Iran. Ultimately, we created a documentary film based on this research but did not release it. This film was produced in the year 1393-94, during which we interviewed people on the streets about their architectural preferences.
